Michele A. Harrington

Micki’s experience over her many years of practice has included working with individuals, corporations, a hospital, area cities, real estate developers, and estate planning and administration for families. She brings a unique insider’s perspective to estate planning, having worked as a foster care caseworker and family counselor with court-referred teens and their families, as well as foster families, at Youth Bridge. She turned from social work to law in order to be a more effective advocate and problem-solver for individuals and families.

Micki served as Deputy City Attorney for the City of Springdale for 11 years, acting primarily as counsel to the Planning Commission and handling land use matters. She also served as legal counsel to the Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital for 11 years, and handled real estate development work in the area. Micki’s expertise in real estate law and community connections led to her being a founding member of the Northwest Arkansas Land Trust on whose Board of Directors she still serves. That group works with conservation-minded landowners, municipalities and partner organizations to protect land with agricultural, ecological, scenic, historic, and recreational significance in Northwest Arkansas.

At this point in her career, Micki primarily focuses on estate planning and estate administration, working with individuals and families on sensitive issues related to disposition of their property after their deaths, lifetime gifts, financial and medical powers of attorney, and living wills.  She does continue to handle some real estate and business matters.  Micki has also served on the Board of Directors of United Bank for over 18 years.

“Having a background in family counseling has made me a better attorney. I’ve worked in estate planning for over 38 years, and it’s not unlike social work in that I’m helping families solve problems.”
